Scouts & Ventures Annual Camp 2015 – Castleconnel

The scout and venture sections headed for Castleconnel campsite in Limerick this year for their annual week long camp. Despite the unsettled weather that was present for the majority of the week, they all had a great time out. Explorer Belt Fundraising Quiz

One of our Rovers and Scout Leader Cathal is part of a two man team heading away on this years Explorer Belt – they’ll be travelling 200km on foot across somewhere in Germany this summer after being dropped in an unknown location with a limited budget. Cubs on Cúla 4

Five of our Cubs: Clara, Sadhb, Sarah, Ruby and Ewan will be making an appearance on TG4 tomorrow, Wednesday 11th March. Group Investiture & Ailish Breathnach is presented with Chief Scout Award

On the 13th December 2014, we had our Group Investiture in the Den and it was well attended with youth members there from all 5 youth sections as well as parents and friends of the group too. County Orienteering 2014

The county Orienteering event was held over two weekends this year. The Cub Orienteering took place in Renvilee and the Scout/Venture event took place in Crestwood. For the second year in a row, the event was organised by out Group in conjunction with Surveyor and Orienteer Frank Ryan who makes the maps and sets the courses – a big thanks to Frank! Scouts Weekend Camp October 14

Our Scout Section had a great first camp of the scout year in Renville Park, Co. Galway. We managed to have a fantastic time doing some pioneering, fire lighting, orienteering, some games and a few others bits as well as a campfire! Thankfully the rain mostly kept off until we got home so it was a good camp for all!

Ventures/Rovers Into Da West & Ventact

Our Ventures and Rovers had a great time over the past few weeks attending both Into Da West and Ventact. Into Da West is a Venture and Rover Camp for the Western Scouting Province and our lads (and ladies!) had a great time taking part in various activities such as paint balling, trail biking, backwoods, segway and many more in Lough Keel Campsite in Co. First Galway Fox Patrol go to Phoenix 2014

After much preparation, a team of 10 scouts from the 1st Galway left Galway on Wednesday 13th August for Mt. Mellary Scout Centre in County Waterford for the Phoenix Challenge 2014. The Phoenix is the National Campcraft competition and this was the second time in recent years the 1st Galway has attended, after Pallaskenry in 2011.
